Eucalyptus - Koala’s favorite

Eucalyptus is a flowering shrub sometimes a tree of the myrtle family. These shrubs have various bark textures with oily leaves. Most species of eucalyptus are native to Australia and invasive in many other areas. Eucalyptus wood has many uses, such as saw milling, pulp, charcoal, etc. The trees are used as ornaments, timber, firewood, and pulpwood. The Eucalyptus tree can be chopped down at the root and will grow back again! Eucalyptus oil can be used as fuels, for fragrances, insect repellence and antimicrobial agent. But more importantly, Eucalyptus can be used for natural remedies. Uses of Eucalyptus include: as an antiseptic, as an aromatherapy, for treatment of colds through inhalation to loosen phlegm and ease congestion, as an antibacterial and antimicrobial agent in which the properties of  Eucalyptus help it to find its way into the dental office for periodontal treatments, and in mouthwashes for bacteria, as a fungicide to treat funguses of the skin, and as an insect repellent for mites and ticks. Eucalyptus oil is invaluable for pain relief of strains, sprains, arthritis, bruising, and backaches. Eucalyptus oil has been shown to stimulate an immune system response. The types of responses of Eucalyptus help with arthritis, blocked nasal passages, wounds and burns, ulcers, cold sores, bladder disease, diabetes to help lower blood sugar, fevers, and flu. And as with any plant oil, some people may experience side effects like rashes or burning sensation, so be sure to dilute the oil with a carrier oil. Eucalyptus should not be taken orally and may trigger asthma like symptoms.
