Happy Kidneys
The kidneys are extremely important to your health. Each day, all day, they are responsible for filtering waste from your blood, balance your electrolytes and create hormones. How do we care for our kidneys so they can function for our health? Drink water to start.
A healthy body is 60% to 70% water. Each organ of the body require water to function. For the kidneys to function efficiently, water is needed for the kidneys to secrete urine which allows the body to get rid of unnecessary substances. When dehydrated, the kidneys have a low urine can lead to dysfunction such as kidney stones. Foods that help to support their function would include grapes, peanuts, cabbage, peppers, cauliflower, green leafy vegetables, broccoli, melons, gralic, apples, and berries. Eating watermelon acts as a diuretic with hydrates and flushes the kidneys. Drinking some fruit juices in small quantities each day inhibits calcium crystals that cause kidney stones. Research is showing the consumption of brown seaweed is showing protection of kidneys. Herbal teas are a great help for providing fluids to keep the kidneys flushed but also add some protections. Herb such as hydrangea, sambong, dandelion, and red clover. Starting your day with a warm cup of lemon water is a great way to care for your kidneys.
Remember, optimally eating a well balanced plant-based diet will provide all that is necessary for keeping the kidneys healthy, thus eliminating the need for cleansing the kidneys with special items.
