Happy Cleansing New Year!
Each year, we begin the New Year with a pledge, to change some things in our lives we know need improved. We even clean our house thoroughly, top to bottom, calling it spring cleaning (from the dust of the furnace). But what about our bodies, have we ever stopped to cleanse them? We make changes to the way we eat and drink or possibly how we dress, however our past choices still reside within us in our organs. So how do we “clean out” this closet?
Detox, what does this mean? Sometimes called a cleanse, is adopting a diet which helps the body to rid itself of unnecessary toxins, while supplying it with everything it needs to thrive. What! toxins… how did poisons get in there? Every day we are bombarded by toxins, in the air we breathe, in the water we drink and bathe in, in the food we eat. So what are some of the ways to eliminate these toxins from the body? Many websites will tell you, even promise you just do this… the this is Fasting, restrictive dieting, liquid only diet, supplementing diets, and so on and all the toxins will be gone! What’s the truth? How do we get the toxins out of our bodies?
These toxins reside in the blood, and we know “the life of the flesh is in the blood.” Leviticus 17:11. And because the toxins circulate in the blood, they become trapped in the organs within the body. When these organs become over taxed, the body starts giving warning signs or symptoms that it is time to clean house! Symptoms of too much toxin in the blood include low immunity, headaches, fatigue, skin problems, mood swings, muscle pains, overheating and obesity. The body is “… fearfully and wonderfully made…” Psalms 139:14 therefore our Master designer would have provided a way for the body to rid itself of these toxins. The liver, intestines, skin, kidneys, lungs, and lymph nodes all process different toxins from our bodies in order to strengthen and heal it. Each week we’ll take a look at the organ and its function plus how to support it as it supports our life!
