Kitchen Herbs and Medicinal Uses - Charcoal

Known as activated charcoal is a great ingredient to bring healing. And the side effects… nothing negative! What is it? It is a super heated natural source of carbon, like from wood or coconut. One teaspoon of charcoal has the same surface area as a football field. Charcoal works with the body to promote healing by binding with the toxins, in or on the body and removing them. Activated charcoal is touted as an emergency treatment for toxins, such as accidental  ingestion of bleach or pesticides, and will help counteract the effects of a drug overdose.

Charcoal can be used on the skin for drawing microparticles and toxins to the surface, thus eliminating the toxins or chemicals that linger in our bodies. In addition, can be added to a bath to adsorb and relieve symptoms, such as from foot conditions, bites, and swelling. Also can be taken internally for headaches and stomachaches or digestive issues, as well as for flushing the system of the toxins and chemicals.

To help filter your tap water, which today’s water contains chemicals such as fluorides, solvents and other toxins, charcoal sticks can be used by placing them in your water bottle. The stick can be used for 2 to 3 months, by weekly boiling it to open its pores. You can also brush your teeth with charcoal to help remove the tiny particles that embed in your natural teeth causing them to discolor. Plus, many of us, unknowingly, have molds in our homes. Mold build up in the body systems and can cause many diseases. The use of charcoal can help flush the system helping it to cleanse away these toxins. Lastly charcoal can help our digestive system by removing cholesterol or bile acids to keep it from entering the blood stream.
