Chamomile- come take a break
Chamomile tea is one of the most favorite herbal teas. It has a smooth flavor, and many health benefits. There are several types of Chamomile, but two are more common and well-known globally: German and Roman Chamomile. Of the herbaceous Chamomile plant we use the leaves and flowers to make the tea. In Ancient Egypt and Rome they used Chamomile as a treatment for fever as well a flavoring for food. One of the most popular uses of Chamomile is its calming effects from an antioxidant called “apigenin,” which is found in its leaves and flowers. These compounds help to alleviate stress and anxiety, thus helping you to fall sleep faster. Chamomile tea also aids in reduction of stress which attributes to anxiety, depression, high blood pressure, and type 2 diabetes. When feeling stressed by drinking Chamomile tea, the tea will increase serotonin and melatonin in the body which help with anxiety. In addition chamomile tea helps to lower blood sugar in people with diabetes. Chamomile is a helpful supplement to treatments for progressive loss of bone do to its anti-estrogenic effects. It helps to promote bone density. Chamomile also has anti-inflammatory properties that help with long-term inflammation that are linked a range of health problems, such as hemorrhoids, gastrointestinal pain, arthritis, autoimmune disorders, and even depression. Lastly, Chamomile has shown tendencies that suggest Chamomile tea may target cancer cells, or even help prevent certain cancer cells from developing.
