Sugar - What does it do to the stomach?
Have you ever just wanted something to eat, a craving for something… sweet? That is because sugar is addictive for many people. Research shows for these people eating sugar produces characteristics of craving and withdrawal, with chemical changes in the brain’s reward center, as does people who are addicted to drugs! These changes are linked to an increased craving for more sugar. An unfortunate side affect of sugar consumption is a decrease in cognitive performance, you reduce the ability to see options and solve problems.
Our stomachs are a gateway to our health, and the bacteria in the gut also affects our brains. A healthful diet encourages good bacteria growth however poor diets produce harmful bacteria. Overeating of fat and/or sugar therefore impair memory function. It has been shown that excess consumption of sugar may impair decision making and memory plus increases the risk of mental diseases, such as depression. Healthy diet plus the reduction or eliminate sugar will improve your health and mental health. Use frozen fruits in a non-dairy milk as an ice cream treat. Avoid high fat-sugar combinations. Eat whole fruits, avoids fruit juices except as as small treat. Use whole cane sugar to avoid herbicide exposure which has been linked to certain cancers. Dark raw honey is twice as sweet as sugar so you can use less. Small changes now will improve your health later.
